The Lactation Resource Centre was established by the Australian Breastfeeding Association in 1989, and has grown rapidly to become one of the most comprehensive collections of breastfeeding information in the world, with a collection of more than 23,000 articles and books, DVDs and case histories.

Our Mission
To strengthen the work of the Australian Breastfeeding Association to promote, support and protect breastfeeding as the norm for infant feeding.
The Lactation Resource Centre (LRC) specialises in providing the community and health care industry with comprehensive and readily useable information resources on all aspects of human lactation. We facilitate the further understanding of the scientific basis of lactation through education and research by running courses and seminars and through our own publications:
- Breastfeeding Review - the refereed professional journal of the ABA, containing articles and information on human lactation and its management. It includes original research papers, scientific findings, case studies, articles on social and ethical aspects of lactation, reviews and letters
- LRC Topics in Breastfeeding and LRC Hot Topics - review articles that explore current themes in breastfeeding With its staff of experts in the field of human lactation, the LRC provides services to many local and international individuals and organisations, and is regularly consulted by government and world agencies.
